Professional Development
Performing has always been something I am passionate about. I love the feeling of being on stage and giving it my all. I fell in love with theatre and dance at a young age and since then, I was sure I had to find a way to incorporate both into my career. I came to Clark Atlanta University with an undeclared major, but I knew I was meant to be at CAU. Within a few weeks, I chose Theater Arts as my major not knowing what to expect, but I knew I had to be involved in theatre somehow. Being a theatre major has taught me so much about myself and this profession. Clark Atlanta has helped me network and form relationships with people who I could potentially work with in the future.
I will be graduating May 20, 2019 and am so glad I chose Clark Atlanta University over any other school. After graduation I plan to take a gap year and attend California Institute of the Arts in Fall of 2020. I will be enrolled in the Master’s in Choreography program. I will become a professional dancer/choreographer because I am in love with the arts. Not just dancing, but helping people learn new moves and helping people boost their confidence by encouraging them to love and be in love with their bodies. To me, dancing is way more than just moving or making up moves to songs. But dancing allows you to express yourself through your body in many different ways. I am sure my work will impact the world because people find their freedom and joy through dancing. Being a choreographer allows me to not just teach dance, but teach individuals to connect experiences with their moves.
